The Palace of Versailles is open Tuesday to Sunday. During high season from 1 April to 31 October hours are 09:00 to 18:30 with last entry at 18:00. During low season from 1 November to 31 March hours are 09:00 to 17:30 with last entry at 17:00. The Palace is closed every Monday and on 1 January and 25 December.
The easiest way to reach Versailles from Paris is by taking RER Line C to Versailles Chateau Rive Gauche station, which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Palace entrance. The journey from central Paris takes around 35 to 40 minutes. Trains run frequently throughout the day.

The Hall of Mirrors is the most celebrated room in the Palace of Versailles. Built by Louis XIV between 1678 and 1684, it stretches 73 metres in length and features 357 mirrors reflecting 20 large arched windows overlooking the gardens. It was here that the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919 ending World War I.
The Musical Fountains Show takes place on selected Saturdays and Sundays from April to October. The fountains and water features in the gardens operate to baroque music throughout the day. A garden surcharge applies on show days. The Night Fountains Show on selected summer Saturday evenings includes illuminated fountains and fireworks and tickets sell out weeks in advance.
The standard ticket covers access to the Palace State Apartments including the Hall of Mirrors. The Trianon Estate and temporary exhibitions may require a separate or upgraded ticket. The Passport ticket is the most comprehensive option as it covers the Palace, Trianon Estate, and gardens including Musical Fountains Show days.
Yes, the Palace of Versailles is a wonderful destination for families. Children under 18 enter the Palace free and the vast gardens provide plenty of space for little ones to explore. Pushchair access is available throughout the Palace and gardens. Allow extra time when visiting with young children as the estate is very large.
