Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Entry Tickets Overview

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and its founding story is woven into every corner of the park. According to Disney legend, a tremendous typhoon swept through the serene Placid Palms Resort, depositing a shrimp boat on top of the park's central mountain and transforming the resort into the wild water park it is today. Mount Mayday, the park's centerpiece hill, still has the Miss Tilly shrimp boat at its summit, and geysers erupt every 30 minutes as the boat attempts to break free.

The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is the park's most iconic feature, one of the largest outdoor wave pools in North America, generating six-foot waves on a cyclical pattern. Crush 'n' Gusher is one of the few true water coasters at a Disney park, pushing riders uphill through a tropical fruit warehouse on jets of water before sending them back down through flumes and drops.

Miss Adventure Falls is the park's longest family raft ride, telling the story of Captain Mary Oceaneer as families spiral down from Mount Mayday. Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls are single-tube journeys. Humunga Kowabunga delivers twin near-vertical body slides. The Storm Slides add three curving body slide routes through the landscape.

Castaway Creek is a 2,000-foot lazy river floating guests through grottoes and waterfalls on complimentary inner tubes. Ketchakiddee Creek is a fully themed children's area with scaled-down slides and a drenching bucket zone.

FAQs

1What is Crush 'n' Gusher?

Crush 'n' Gusher is the headline thrill attraction at Typhoon Lagoon and one of the few true water coasters at any Disney park. Jets of pressurized water propel riders uphill through sections of a themed tropical fruit factory before sending them back down through flumes and drops. Three routes are available: Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher, and Pineapple Plunger, each with a different layout and intensity level. Riders must meet a minimum height requirement. Crush 'n' Gusher consistently draws the longest waits and should be prioritized first thing in the morning.

2Is Typhoon Lagoon suitable for young children?

Yes. Ketchakiddee Creek is a fully themed children's water play area with scaled-down versions of the park's main slides, gentle water jets, and a tipping bucket zone for visitors under 48 inches. The Surf Pool's calm periods allow young children to play in the shallows with complimentary inner tubes. Castaway Creek lazy river is accessible to all ages. Complimentary life jackets are available for all ages. Several thrill slides have height requirements; reviewing restrictions before your visit is recommended.

3What is the H2O Glow After Hours event?

H2O Glow After Hours is a separately ticketed evening event running on select nights June 2 through September 5 2026. Ticket holders can enter from 18:00, two hours before the event begins at 20:00 and runs until 23:00. The event features neon lighting effects throughout the park, a DJ-hosted dance party at the Surf Pool, Disney character appearances, and complimentary ice cream, popcorn, and select bottled beverages. Attendance is significantly lower than regular park hours, resulting in near-walk-on access to most slides.

4Is Typhoon Lagoon closing in 2026?

Yes. Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close from September 9 2026 for its annual scheduled refurbishment. The park reopened May 12 2026 after the previous refurbishment. During closure, Disney's Blizzard Beach remains open. Guests with water park access during the Typhoon Lagoon closure can use it at Blizzard Beach. Verify current status at disneyworld.disney.go.com before booking for September 2026 dates or later.

5How does Typhoon Lagoon compare to Blizzard Beach?

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach each have distinct strengths. Typhoon Lagoon is the stronger choice for guests who prioritize the wave pool experience, as its Surf Pool generating six-foot waves is significantly larger and more impressive than Blizzard Beach's wave pool. Blizzard Beach is widely considered the stronger thrill-slide park, anchored by Summit Plummet, one of the world's fastest free-fall waterslides. Both parks have comparable family offerings and children's areas. Many visitors who have multiple water park days on their trip enjoy visiting both.

6What is the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool?

The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is one of North America's largest outdoor wave pools, generating six-foot waves on a continuous timed cycle. The pool accommodates hundreds of guests simultaneously and is the centerpiece of the park. Surfing lessons are available in the pool on separate mornings before the park opens, bookable in advance at an additional cost. The wave cycle alternates between wave periods and calm rest periods throughout the day.

7Is Typhoon Lagoon included with a Walt Disney World theme park ticket?

No. A standard Walt Disney World theme park ticket does not include Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Water park admission requires a dedicated single-day water park ticket, the Park Hopper Plus add-on to a multi-day theme park ticket, or an annual pass tier that includes water park access. Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests in 2026 receive complimentary water park admission on their check-in day only. No park reservation is required for the water parks and parking is free.

8What facilities are available?

Typhoon Lagoon provides complimentary life jackets throughout the park. Towel and locker rentals are available. Complimentary bus transportation serves Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests. Counter-service dining is available with mobile ordering through the My Disney Experience app at Leaning Palms. Private cabanas with shade and service are available for advance reservation at an additional cost. Parking is free.
